  • 2 + 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)
  • 4 Tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 6 Tbsp softened butter (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon (for filling)
  • 4 Tbsp softened butter (for frosting)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (for frosting)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for frosting)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk, yeast, egg, melted butter, sugar, and salt until combined. Stir in flour until a non-sticky dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for approximately three minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm place for one hour.
  3. Prepare the filling by mixing softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  4. Once risen, roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly over it. Roll tightly and cut into eight equal pieces.
  5. Place rolls in a greased baking pan and allow to rise again for thirty minutes before brushing with melted butter. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. For frosting: Beat softened butter, cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth. Spread over warm cinnamon rolls.
