  • 2 ½ pounds stew meat
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups yellow onions (diced)
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot)
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 5 medium carrots (cut into chunks)
  • 1 lb baby Yukon gold potatoes (halved)
  • 1 cup frozen peas

Instructions

  1. Cut the beef into cubes and season with black pepper, garlic salt, celery salt, and flour.
  2. Brown the seasoned beef in olive oil over medium-high heat in a skillet.
  3. Sauté diced onions and minced garlic in the same skillet until softened.
  4. Transfer browned beef, onion mixture, red wine, broth, carrots, and potatoes to the slow cooker.
  5. Cook on low for about 7½ to 8 hours or on high for about 3½ to 4 hours.
  6. Add frozen peas during the last 15 minutes of cooking.
