  • 2 pints blueberries, rinsed
  • 1 pre-made angel food cake, sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 8 oz containers cream cheese
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for syrup)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (for syrup)
  • 1/4 cup water (for syrup)
  • 2/3 cup sugar (for cream layer)
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract (for cream layer)

Instructions

  1. Make the syrup by combining sugar, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan over medium heat until dissolved. Allow it to cool.
  2. Beat softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Gradually add heavy cream until stiff peaks form; stir in almond extract.
  3. In a trifle dish or large bowl, layer angel food cake slices at the bottom. Drizzle syrup over the cake.
  4. Alternate layers of strawberries and whipped cream mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
  5. Garnish with remaining berries and chill for at least one hour before serving.
