- 1 pre-made angel food cake, sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 8 oz containers cream cheese
- 1/4 cup sugar (for syrup)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice (for syrup)
- 1/4 cup water (for syrup)
- 2/3 cup sugar (for cream layer)
- 1/4 tsp almond extract (for cream layer)
Instructions
- Make the syrup by combining sugar, lemon juice, and water in a saucepan over medium heat until dissolved. Allow it to cool.
- Beat softened cream cheese with sugar until smooth. Gradually add heavy cream until stiff peaks form; stir in almond extract.
- In a trifle dish or large bowl, layer angel food cake slices at the bottom. Drizzle syrup over the cake.
- Alternate layers of strawberries and whipped cream mixture until all ingredients are used, finishing with whipped cream on top.
- Garnish with remaining berries and chill for at least one hour before serving.
