- 2 cups warm water (105-115°F)
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup honey or sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 tablespoons oil (canola or vegetable)
- 4 – 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Instructions
- In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let rest for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- Mix in honey or sugar, salt, oil, and 3 cups of flour until combined.
- Gradually add more flour until the dough pulls away from the sides but remains slightly sticky.
- Knead the dough for 4-5 minutes on medium speed or by hand for about 5-8 minutes.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1.5 hours).
- Prepare two greased loaf pans and shape the risen dough into logs to place inside.
- Allow the loaves to rise again until they are about an inch above the pans (45 minutes to 1 hour).
