  • 2 cups warm water (105-115°F)
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup honey or sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons oil (canola or vegetable)
  • 45 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let rest for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix in honey or sugar, salt, oil, and 3 cups of flour until combined.
  3. Gradually add more flour until the dough pulls away from the sides but remains slightly sticky.
  4. Knead the dough for 4-5 minutes on medium speed or by hand for about 5-8 minutes.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled (about 1.5 hours).
  6. Prepare two greased loaf pans and shape the risen dough into logs to place inside.
  7. Allow the loaves to rise again until they are about an inch above the pans (45 minutes to 1 hour).
  8. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-33 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before slicing.
