  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 4 cups blackberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a greased 12-inch skillet lined with foil.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Stir in boiling water until just combined.
  4. In another bowl, dissolve cornstarch in cold water; then add sugar, lemon juice, and blackberries.
  5. Transfer berry mixture to the skillet, bring to a boil over medium heat.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough on top of the berries and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
