- 1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 1 tablespoon heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons Kahlua, or other coffee liqueur
- 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
- 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
- Ground cinnamon, for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt diced butter and chopped chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat until smooth; remove from heat.
- In a mixing bowl, add granulated sugar to the melted chocolate mixture and beat in eggs one at a time; mix in espresso powder, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Gently fold in all-purpose flour until just combined.
- Pour batter into a prepared baking pan and bake for about 20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
- For the Kahlua buttercream, beat room temperature butter with powdered sugar until fluffy; then mix in heavy cream, Kahlua, and espresso powder.
