Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup warm water (110-120°F)
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable or canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by combining warm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl. Let it sit for 10 minutes until bubbles form.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook, mix the flour, salt, oil, and yeast mixture on medium speed until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl (about 10 minutes).
  3. Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap. Let it rise in a warm place for 60 to 90 minutes until doubled in size.
  4. Deflate the dough gently, shape into a log for a loaf pan, cover again, and let rise for another 50 to 60 minutes until doubled.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F about 20 minutes before baking. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown on top.
  6. Brush the hot crust with melted butter after removing from the oven and cool on a rack before slicing.
